Advanced Divers get to have more fun! Dive on Wrecks, Dive at Night, Dive Deeper... The choice is almost endless.
What is the Advanced Diver Course?
The Advanced Adventurer Course is the traditional 2nd level of training, and is a collection of 5 taster dives from various specialties, conducted over a 24 hour period.
This course is great for gaining experience and confidence since it offers you 5 dives each with different objectives, all of which correspond to different specialty dives, such as Deep Diving, Wreck Diving, Night Diving etc.
Worth noting is that this is not a mandatory level to obtain. SSI allows all divers to Dive Their Way and enroll straight in whatever specialty diver program may be of interest to them, which is the most popular route most of our customers take with the Deep, Wreck and Nitrox package.
The SSI Advanced Open Water Course (similarly named to this course from another agency) is a very different program, which refers to the certification level offered for a Diver that has 5 specialities and 24 or more dives.
The Advanced Adventurer Diving Certification is recognized around the world and allows you, the diver, to dive to a depth of 30m and undertake more adventurous dives, such as Night Dives and Wreck Dives.
This course is available to anyone that has an Open Water Diver License, or equivalence, from any diving agency. All of our instructors are dual certified with PADI and SSI, meaning that you get the choice of whichever agency you would like to follow.
Other requirements are that you are at least 10 years old and be medically fit, or at least have a diving physicians approval. This can be done here on Koh Tao for 250 THB.
If you have not dived in the last year then you might need to take a Refresher Dive before you can enroll in the Advanced Course. If in doubt, send us an email and check what we can do - it's your holiday and we are flexible - Dive Your Way!!

|Day 1||13:00 - 17:30||Buoyancy Dive & Navigation Dive|

|Day 2||06:00 - 10:30||Deep Dive & Wreck Dive|
Dive Your Way
The above schedule is only a sample, and like we say - "Dive Your Way". The Deep Dive is the only required dive in the SSI Advanced Adventurer Course. All other dives can selected from the list below, depending on scheduling;
During this mandatory dive your instructor will brief you about safety considerations that come into play with increased depth. They will take you to a depth of 30m where you will obseve some of the effects of colour and pressure.
During this dive, your instructor will brief you on various ways of navigating using both a compass and various natural techniques. You will then conduct a dive where you will navigate various shapes and negotiate distances with fin kicks and time.
This dive focuses on improving the hardest diving skill - Buoyancy. In this dive your instructor will have you playing a number of buoyancy games all of which focus on improving your underwater control, which ultimately reduces air-consumption and increases confidence.
During this dive we focus on the techniques used by all the pro's to establish what it is we are actually looking at, and where to find them, rather than filling our log books out with "Pretty Yellow Fish".
This dive focuses on giving you the additional information needed to use what is now the most common piece of diving equipment - a Dive Computer.
This dive is as it sounds - you will be taught a number of techniques to make your underwater photos look much more appealing.
Wreck Diving has an appeal for most divers, but there are a number of factors that need to be known to allow this to be done safely.
Perhaps one of the most rewarding dives, this can even be done as the full specialty during the Advanced Diver Program. We will teach the additional techniques and knowledge required to be able to dive with Nitrox, which increases the overall safety of diving, and allows you to extend the times you can spend at given depths.
While FISH ID Dive focuses on Fish, this dive finds relationships between underwater life. For instance, the relationship between the little Goby Fish and partner shrimp. The shrimp is blind and creates shelter for the fish that keeps guard.
Drift diving requires certain techniques to safely begin a dive in one location and surface completely elsewhere. During this dive you will learn considerations required to enjoy these great dives.
Night Diving offers a different perspective to the dive sites. Everything seen in the day goes to sleep, and everything asleep in the day comes out to play. This includes hunting Barracuda, Blue Spotted Stingrays and the change to see neon blue phospherence
This dive focuses on teaching you more about finding your way around the dive sites using both the compass and natural navigation.
Search and Recovery Diving requires an additional skill set in order to be done effectively, such as how to navigate effective search patterns as well as how to prepare and lift an item.
Boat Diving is the most common form of diving, and yet most people know none of the nautical terms which boats use - here you will learn about the galley, the head and more about the most common transport for divers.
